Aim
To provide the key therapeutic recommendations from the ACP live workshops on the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in primary care.

Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this course you should be able to:

• Manage patients with type 2 diabetes in accordance with the most recent NICE guidance
• Understand the management of cardiovascular risk factors associated with diabetes
• Consider optimal management of hyperglycaemia, including recommended targets and the role of the newer agents
• Review the use of glucometers, test strips and needles in patients with type 2 diabetes in line with regional guidance.
