Aim

To provide an update on the latest evidence around the management of type 2 diabetes.

Learning outcomes

Intended learning outcomes:
  • List the priorities and current best practice for the management of patients with type 2 diabetes.
  • Summarise the management of cardiovascular risk factors associated with diabetes.
  • Consider optimal management of blood glucose, including appropriate intensification of treatment and the role of newer agents.
  • What are the key education messages that need to be shared with patients.
  • Review glucometers, test strips, needles and lancets in people with type 2 diabetes in line with regional guidance.
  • Understand the role of Glucose monitoring (flash and continuous) devices.
